PASCO, WA - Following the annexation of county land into the city of Pasco a group of citizens have fought to pass legislation to change the way they are governed.
"Take those areas back out of the city and if the annexation occurs again they will then be given the opportunity to vote which they were not," said Mark Mansell who supports both propositions one and two.
On the ballot this fall in Pasco, proposition one would reduce city limits from recently annexed land. Proposition two would call for a strong elected mayor in Pasco rather than the council manager system that is in place.
"We're only looking at approximately 10 percent of the people voting so far as far as ballots that were sent out," explained Mansell.
While the group has their own formed opinions and will vote they way they think is right, they say they are really just out promoting democracy and that they would like to see more of the people of Pasco send in ballots.
"I want to encourage everyone to get out there and vote no matter how they vote."
