YAKIMA, WA. -- Yakima Veterans got a big boost from the community Saturday.
The "Stand Down" Yakima Benefits Fair offered Veterans a host of services for free including hair cuts, medical screenings and goody bags of household items. Veterans say this event shows them the true spirit of community.
"I feel like it's an obligation to me and it's a true honor to step up and to have the resources to put something together to help someone else," Vietnam Veteran and Organizer Jon Ison said.
Veterans of all ages attended. Even Willis Walker, a World War Two Veteran who is 97-years-old and proud to still live on his own! More than 100 volunteers helped to make the event possible.
