Cold Weather Brings More People to Doctor's Office

YAKIMA, WA-- We are now in the middle of cold and flu season, and more and more people are heading to the doctor's office.

Doctors said they have seen an increase in patients with cold and flu symptoms come in during the past few weeks, and they said the best thing you can do for prevention is getting your flu shot as soon as possible.

"Almost everybody older than six-months should get a flu shot.  That's your biggest way to help prevent getting the flu, and trying to keep people as healthy as they can, and obviously getting enough rest, keeping yourself healthy in terms of plenty of food, plenty of drink,' said Dr. John Zambido.

Doctors also said when it comes to kids make sure they have enough warm clothes when you send them outside, keep them hydrated when they are sick, and treat fever-like symptoms with ibuprofen or Tylenol based medication.
