HERMISTON, Or - A man is in custody after police say he tried to burglarize a house twice in one night.
Hermiston police arrested Refugio Campos, 43, on Tuesday at a home along the 600 block of Moore Avenue.
Officers say Campos first went to the home between 4 and 7 p.m. and stole multiple items, including jewelry and electronics. As he left, he hid some of the stolen goods at the house. He later returned around 9:45 p.m. to take the rest of the items. However, when he tried to enter the home a man who lives there caught him.
Police say the the man held Campos until officers arrived. They later booked him into the Umatilla County Jail. He is facing charges for burglary, attempted burglary, theft, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief.
Campos was also charged with two counts of unlawful entry to a motor vehicle and two counts of second degree theft for car prowls around Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in October.
