Richland Students Learn about Anti-Bullying from Wake Up Nation

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA - It's Red Ribbon Week and one area school is using that to focus more on anti-bullying. A local group called Wake Up Nation spent the last two days at Richland's White Bluffs Elementary.

Through raps and assemblies they are teaching the students STAGE. That stands for self-image, teamwork, attitude, goals and excelling.

"This was more of a supplement in empowering the kids with some tools to use. I really liked that they put a different slant on it and gave them some ideas on how not to ever be bullied because they have changed their life and they know who they are," said 5th grade teacher Jennifer Hubbard.

Wake Up Nation uses a two day program that's part curriculum and part assembly. The third, fourth and fifth graders at White Bluffs all took part this week.
