RICHLAND, WA - Starting November 1st, businesses throughout the region will start accepting candy donations for the annual "Operation Cash for Candy" fundraiser.
The idea is simple - kids bring in their candy, and get a dollar for every pound they donate. Volunteers will then send the donated candy to soldiers overseas through the "Operation Thank You" program.
Kids who donate are also automatically entered to win prizes, like a Toys-R-Us gift card.
"It's interesting that they use this candy when they get it to work with the locals to get information about where the intelligence needs to be and where the dangers are," says event organizer Dr. Lee Ostler.
