Ontario Man with Ties to Pasco, Turns Himself in after Shooting

ONTARIO, OR - A man with ties to Pasco, wanted for shooting a 4-year-old boy in Ontario, Oregon has turned himself in.  

Ontario Police say 33-year-old Juan Jose Moreno-Alvarez met police at City Hall late Thursday night. There, officers interviewed and transferred him to the Malheur County Jail to await possible charges.

Officers say the young boy was shot in the arm Tuesday and underwent surgery at a Boise hospital. He was released from the hospital and is now in state custody with his siblings.

Police issued a felony warrant for Moreno-Alvarez after officers say he fled the apartment where the shooting happened Saturday night. 

Police say when they executed a search warrant at the apartment, they found a firearm, and property stolen from recent burglaries in the area.
