Posted: Updated:

TOPPENISH, WA. - A father from Toppenish is in custody, accused of killing his two month old daughter.

Toppenish Police began investigating after the baby girl was taken to the Toppenish Emergency Room on Tuesday with significant head trauma. Her father, 26-year-old Francisco Gasca, told investigators her injuries were from a fall. Paramedics later life flighted the girl to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle due to the severity of her injuries.

Further investigation revealed the injury was from abuse, such as violent shaking or jarring. The baby girl passed away on Thursday.

Yakama Nation Tribal Police on Friday saw Gasca in his car and went after him. Gasca took off and ended up crashing his car and officers took him into custody.

Officers booked Gasca for second degree murder. His bail is set at $1 million.
