On October 31st at approx. 23:20 hours the Yakima County Sheriff's Office, Union Gap Police Department, Selah Police Department and Yakima Police Department responded to a residence located north of Selah near the 2800 block of N. Wenas Rd reference a home invasion.

It was reported the husband and wife of the residence were alerted by the sound of their front door being forced open. The wife was greeted inside her living room by two unknown Hispanic males, one of whom was pointing a pistol at her. She later described the first male as being in his early to mid 20's, approximately 6'00'' and dressed in dark pants, a black beanie and red shirt. The second male was behind the first and indiscernible.

The wife began throwing random objects at the suspects and yelling at them to get out of her house. The husband, arriving to the living room from a back room, had been alerted by the yelling of his wife. Having armed himself with a pistol of his own he confronted the two suspects and fired one shot at them. The two suspects then exited the same door they had entered from and left the area. It is not believed either was struck by the husband's round. The victim's did not suffer any injuries and no shots were fired by the suspects.

Upon law enforcements arrival a perimeter was established and a search of the area was conducted using the Yakima Police Department's K9 unit and assisting officers. Items of interest were located near the scene and later collected as evidence. The search resulted in the discovery of tire marks indicating the suspects had left in an unknown vehicle.

This incident is still under investigation. If you have any knowledge regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspects please contact the Yakima County Sheriff's Office at 574-2500.
