Restoring The Ridpath In Downtown Spokane; Sean Owsley Reports

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

There are major plans for the historic Ridpath Hotel in downtown Spokane. It's been a part of our history since originally opening in 1900. A major fire ripped through the building in February of 1950 and was rebuilt in the early 50's.

After being stuck in legal purgatory because of fragmented ownership in recent years, there is new hope on the horizon for the future of the iconic landmark. Developer Ron Wells is now full steam ahead with renovating the building. There will be roughly 200 micro-apartments that will be available in 2014.

The restaurant on the ground floor will re-open to the public for dining. The top floor that used to house Ankenys Restaurant is being converted to three lofts. Those have already been sold. For an historic building that has seen stars like Elvis Presley, Ronald Reagan, Lawrence Welk and Rock Hudson stay there, the future is now bright for the Ridpath.
