PASCO, WA- The Franklin County prosecutor and the defense attorney representing a man accused of second degree murder say they are close to settling the case before it goes to trial.

Pasco police arrested Joseph Hart nearly two years ago at the Sundance Mobile Home Park where he lived with a roommate. Prosecutors say Hart stabbed Rodger Lincoln, 56, during an argument.

The men lived in a trailer owned by Lourdes Health Network, which provides housing for mental health patients.

Scott Johnson, Hart's attorney, says Hart was insane at the time of the killing, and says he will use an insanity defense if there is a trial. However, Johnson and Franklin County Prosecutor Shawn Sant both told the judge Tuesday the case might be resolved before the trial begins next month.
