Your Voice: Make Richland More Walkable

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA - The city of Richland wants your voice to be heard. Wednesday night an open house will be held. The topic of discussion is walkabilty.

The city is hoping to make it easier for you to get around on foot. It is part of a community health plan to get people moving. Richland already has many walking trails throughout the city. Now they want to connect more of them and improve the way they are used. They are not exactly sure how they will do that just yet, but that is where you come in.

"Maybe there's somebody that doesn't want to walk alone that would like to be part of a walking group? So it could be some very simple solutions and things," explained Laurel Strand the Parks and Recreation Manager. "There might be some more complex suggestions, but that's the whole point of this, to find out what our community could like to see."

Tomorrow night at the Community Center by Howard Amon Park, locals can come with ideas ready to brainstorm and discuss what they would like to see be changed in the way people walk the city.
