YAKIMA, WA.--Proposition One would require a super majority vote from the Yakima City Council on any measure to raise taxes.
Voters seem to like the idea as the yes votes are leading the no votes 69 percent to 31 percent. Supporters of Proposition One said it's a big win for the people of Yakima.
"It passed with more than 68 percent of the vote," said Ben Shoval, a supporter. "That's an exciting number that says that more than two-thirds of the voters agree that we need sensible limits on taxes."
City council members we spoke with said they're not surprised people voted yes to making it harder to raise taxes. However, some council members said they don't believe getting the extra vote will make too much of a difference.
