BOSTON (AP) - A family-run prosthetics company that was started in Boston nearly a century ago is helping people who lost limbs in the Boston Marathon bombing to walk again.

Paul Martino's grandfather was a shoemaker when he started United Prosthetics in 1914. Now Martino runs the business with his siblings and son.

The company deals with patients who have lost limbs to accidents, diabetes or combat. Part of the Martino family's job is being honest with those who are suddenly realizing they won't get back everything they had. The Martinos urge people to give it time.

Mery Daniel is one of the eight marathon victims working with United Prosthetics. She says the go-slow approach was a challenge, but she decided to stick with it.
