MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho men’s basketball team will get its 2013-14 season underway on Saturday (Nov. 9) when Western Illinois visits Memorial Gym for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Vandals and Leathernecks have never met before in men’s basketball.

Idaho returns two starters and three letterwinners from its 2012-13 team that went 12-18 and 7-11 in the Western Athletic Conference. The Vandals were picked to finish second by the media and fourth by the coaches in the WAC in 2013-14. Senior Stephen Madison and junior Connor Hill earned preseason all-WAC honors after Madison averaged 14.1 points per game and Hill contributed 12.1 in 2012-13.

Western Illinois returns six letterwinners from its 22-win team a season ago, including preseason all-Summit League selection Adam Link. Link, a senior in 2013-14, averaged 9.9 points and 4.1 rebounds last year. The Leathernecks were picked to finish fourth in the Summit League in 2013-14.

The Vandals play two of their first three games at home but will play in Moscow just two more times in 2013 after that. Idaho will visit Oklahoma on Nov. 13 to begin the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, then host Northwest Nazarene on Nov. 16.
