Boy Scouts Food Drive Is Saturday, Nov. 9th And Donating Could Not Be Easier

KHQ.COM - Boy Scouts of America will be out in full force all day Saturday, November 9th collecting non-perishable food items for all area food banks. Anyone in N. Idaho and Eastern Washington are able to participate in the food drive and donating could not be easier. To donate, simply place non-perishable food items in a sturdy bag and leave them by your front door.

All boy scout troops have been assigned specific neighborhoods and together they will covering almost every home in the Inland NW. All of the food will be donated to local area food banks.

    SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) - Several people have been injured in an explosion at a refinery in Wisconsin.   Authorities in Superior say the explosion at the Husky Energy oil refinery happened at about 10 a.m. Thursday. Superior Fire Chief Steve Panger says six people were taken to hospitals in Duluth, Minnesota. He doesn't know the extent of their injuries. Others were walking wounded. There are no known fatalities.

    NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - A driver accused of intentionally hitting and killing young Idaho newlyweds holding hands on a sidewalk has pleaded not guilty.   The Idaho Press-Tribune reports 37-year-old Jason Verwer entered his not guilty plea Friday to two counts of second-degree murder.   Authorities say 22-year-old Matthew Parkinson and 17-year-old Amelia Parkinson were killed in late January while walking along a road in Fruitland.

(AP) - Washington State University researchers are halting their development of a marijuana breath test for fear of backlash from the federal government.   Researchers hoped the breathalyzer would help law enforcement officers detect THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, in motorists.
