YAKIMA, WA. -- Local high school students in Yakima are working to create a positive change in the community.
Students from Davis High School went around Yakima painting over graffiti. The students say the work today is more than just about making the city look better, its showing adults in the area that young people can make a difference.
"It takes time out of their Saturday," volunteer Rosendo Lopez said. "They could be doing other stuff like sleeping in and what not, but they're out here helping the community which means a lot to us and hopefully the people around Yakima.
The City of Yakima donated 15-gallons of paint and dozens of paint brushes to the cause. The school hopes to grow the event and hold more graffiti clean-ups in the future.
