PASCO, Wash. – Columbia Basin College marked Veteran's day by dedicating a new veterans monument on campus.

Several hundred veterans who attend CBC voted on several designs last spring. The veterans and the CBC veterans committee selected the design submitted by Jesse's Lawn Maintenance and Landscaping in Kennewick.

Rich Cummins, CBC president, says the monument stands as a tribute to all veterans, past, present and future.

"When you look at the monument you see all the branches of service represented," Cummins says. "It's our purpose to honor all veterans. This is a monument not a memorial. So this is to the veterans who are among us."

The Associated Student Body voted to pay the $75,000 to build the memorial. Other private donations will cover maintenance costs.

The memorial is located between the CBC Hub and the L building.
