KENNEWICK, WA – What better day to give funds to a military group than on Veterans Day?

The funds actually came from Halloween. The Project 13 haunted house that was sponsored by Ashley furniture collected funds over the month of October that would go toward Camp Patriot.

Many of the Project 13 volunteers were there to hand over the big check today totaling more than $38,000. This is one of the largest donations Camp Patriot has received from one project. The non-profit gives soldiers and veterans support through community bonding and therapy.

"When you take somebody who's blind and give them an opportunity to climb Mount Rainier that really gives them back their man or womanhood. It's tough to overcome some of these things," explained Micah Clark from Camp Patriot.

The money will all go toward helping those soldiers. Currently the group is working to purchase a ranch where soldiers can go to be at peace and to work through their stress.
