PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: At around 8:30pm, Spokane police responded to the Rite Aid near Division/Rowan on an armed robbery. A handgun was displayed and prescription medications were taken.

Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle, a white 2007 Buick Lucerne, at Garland/Monroe when it pulled into the convenience store parking  lot. When the officer activated his emergency lights, the car took off and after a  short pursuit ensued. Officers located the car, which had fresh damage from colliding with a pole and a handgun was visible inside, but the suspects were no longer in it.

A perimeter was set up to contain the suspects. The driver ran south and forced his way into an occupied residence in the 1500 block of W. Glass. As the police approaching the scene, the suspect broke out a window in the residence, climbed out, and cut himself in the process. He ran to another nearby house, forced entry and attempted to hold the female resident hostage

At that point, officers arrived on scene, were in front of the home, heard the female's scream, and saw the front door open. The female victim fought her way out the front door, while the male closed the door and locked it. Once a K-9 officer arrived on scene, officers entered the home in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

The suspect ran out the back, was confronted by officers and taken into custody without further incident. A duffel bag containing stolen medication was located in the back yard. Eric S. Reisen (22 years old) was arrested for 1st Robbery, Attempt to Elude, Hit & Run, Residential Burglary, 1st Degree Burglary, 1st Kidnapping and warrants. Other charges could be forthcoming as the investigation proceeds.

Officers continued their investigation which led them to a second suspect name - "Tommy".  Tommy was later identified as 24 year old Thomas N. Sweeney. He turned himself in with his parents at about 4am this morning and was booked for 1st Robbery.

There are no outstanding suspects in this incident.

PREVIOUS STORY:

UPDATE: Around 3:45 Wednesday morning, the second man police think was involved with the robbery turned himself in. 24-year-old Thomas Sweeney drove to the Spokane County Jail with his parents and turned himself in. He is charged with 1st Degree Robbery.

ORIGINAL STORY:

KHQ.COM - Spokane Police were notified of an armed robbery at the Rite Aid at Division and Rowan Tuesday night, and the call ended with a wild pursuit.

Police say two men walked into the Rite Aid armed with a gun and took Oxycontin. They fled the scene in a car.

Shortly after the robbery, police located the suspect vehicle and when they attempted to stop it, the driver sped off. After a short pursuit, the driver crashed the car in the area of Maple and Glass and both the driver and passenger took off.

Police say the driver actually broke into a home during a foot pursuit and attempted to take a woman inside the home hostage. She was able to escape, and police then arrested the suspect. We are told he is  22-year-old Eric Reisen.

Police did recover a gun believed to have been used in the robbery from the car.

Police are still searching the area of Maple and Glass for the passenger. They have not identified him, but do consider him armed and dangerous. If you have any information about this robbery or the suspect still at large, you are asked to call police immediately.

During the Reisen's confrontation with the homeowner, the woman's dog ran away. Her name is Abby and she is an English Setter. A picture of her is attached to the right of this story. If you see her, call police at 456-2233.
