Before & After Photos Of The Devastation From Typhoon Haiyan

KHQ - These before and after photos were taken by Digital Globe First Look, an online service that provides satellite imagery of large scale disasters. The satellites collected more than 7,300 square miles of imagery in the areas hit hardest by the typhoon - one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall.

The before photos were taken on February 23, 2012 and the after photos were taken on November 10, 2013 after Haiyan wiped out Tacloban, the city in the direct path of the ferocious storm.

    HONOLULU (AP) - Engineers say damage to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu was worse than expected and it will remain closed indefinitely.    Hawaii News Now reports boat transportation to the attraction was suspended May 6 after one of the vessel operators noticed a crack on the outside of the memorial.

    OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The two civilians who shot a gunman who'd opened fire inside an Oklahoma City restaurant are mostly staying mum about the incident but acknowledge they stopped a threat.    Police say 35-year-old Juan Carlos Nazario and 39-year-old Bryan Whittle fatally shot the suspected gunman, 28-year-old Alexander Tilghman, outside the restaurant Thursday night.
