RICHLAND, WA - It was another Halloween success for Operation Cash for Candy.

Kids have been dropping off their extra candy at Dr. Lee Ostler's Dental Office for the last two weeks. The kids get a dollar for every pound they donate and this year's total topped 800 pounds.

Cadets helped load the candy into a truck Wednesday afternoon. It will be sent to troops serving overseas.

"It's something that they can slip in their pocket or put in their rigs. It's not a large, huge item and they can take it with them.  And then they have a little snack or whatever.  If they choose to want a piece of chocolate or whatever, it might be they have that opportunity," said Romar Swarmer, Operation Thank You.

This was the fifth year for Operation Cash for Candy and Dr. Ostler says it's their biggest year so far.
