SUNNYSIDE, WA--Dozens of nursing home workers picketed outside a Sunnyside nursing home Wednesday.

Workers at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation are demanding a contract. They say they want fair treatment.

Ever since the current operator, Prestige Healthcare, took over last year, workers said they've been battling low wages, long hours and constant turnover.

Sunnyside workers said this is affecting people all over the region from Union Gap to Richland.

"We've been fighting it for over a year, and we can't stop now," said Sally Salinas, a nursing home worker in Sunnyside. "We deserve what's fair."

Prestige Healthcare released a statement.

"We are currently negotiating with local SEIU union leaders to reach an agreement that is in    the best interest of our employees, residents and patients. We understand that the union has organized an informational picket to share their message, but to be clear, it is not a strike and our employees continue to work during their scheduled hours. Our number one priority is to provide our residents and patients with the highest level of compassionate care and service, which we'll continue throughout these events."

KENNEWICK: Good news for all of you bargain shoppers out there, Goodwill is opening a brand new store in Kennewick sometime next year. Thanks to a 3.1 million dollar loan and lots of planning, a very large patch of dirt will be home to a 20,000 square foot Goodwill; half warehouse and processing, half retail. The Kennewick store will be closing, however. You can still say, out with your old couches, TV's and clothing, and *into someone else's hands, just at a different location. ...More >>
