KENNEWICK, WA - The Washington State Patrol wants to remind drivers to slow down in foggy conditions.

Troopers say they've responded to several car accidents over the past few weeks because drivers where going to fast when it was foggy.

On Wednesday,  a Paterson woman was seriously injured near Prosser and last week an 18-year-old woman was killed while driving on State Route 125; in both accidents, troopers say speed and fog played a factor.

"When it's foggy, the conditions are rough, traffic needs to traveling at a slower rate, increasing their following distances, being a little more cautious...safety is paramount these days," said Trooper Steven Jackson with the Washington State Patrol.

You also want to make sure your headlights and taillights are both on when it's fog out, but avoid turning on your bright headlights because the light reflects off the fog. Instead, use your wipers and defrosters to increase visibility.
