KENNEWICK, WA - A Kennewick mother took quick action when her daughter told her a man approached her after she got off the school bus and told the young girl to come with him.

Rachel Williams says her daughter explained the scary story of a man insisting she come with him after she got off the school bus at 4th Avenue and Vancouver Street in Kennewick.

Williams got a description of the man from her daughter and then called the police department, her daughter's school and the Kennewick School District's transportation department.

"Notify the community to let them know that there is possibly a potential threat out there to our children. We need to be able to take steps to make all the children in the community safer just by spreading the word," Williams said.

William's 11-year-old daughter told the man "no" and ran home.

Williams tells me she feels her daughter is safer after notifying people about the threat and hopes others will spread the word if anything like this happens again.
