Holiday Season Kicks Off At Columbia Center With Parade

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - It may only be November but it is already beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the mall.

Saturday at Columbia Center was the holiday parade to kick off the season. Plenty of groups from the Tri-Cities participated. Hundreds of kids and their parents were out in front of the shops waiting to see the big man himself…Santa. When Santa comes to town it marks the beginning of holiday shopping season.

"Today we're welcoming Santa into the mall officially kicking off the holiday season," said Jordan Youngs the director of Marketing at Columbia Center. "In fact we'll be extending our mall hours starting on Thanksgiving. We'll be opening at 8 o'clock and then we'll be open through the night through black Friday and then we'll have extended hours beyond that point."

After the parade, kids were invited inside to meet Santa and try out some crafts along with a cup of hot chocolate.
