YAKIMA, WA. -- You can say your piece concerning the City of Yakima's 2014 budget at a meeting soon.
On December 3rd, the City Council plans to hear from the public with any questions or suggestions they might have. The city has an estimated $57 million next year, nearly $4 million more than this year.
Plans now are to focus the budget on increasing public safety, part of which would mean spending nearly $800 thousand on expanding the police force. Other major projects include $11 million to improve the Yakima Air Terminal, $2 million to begin renovation of the Cascade Mill Site, and $170 thousand to begin the design of a Yakima Plaza, part of the Downtown Master Plan.
