Yakima's Memorial Hospital Offers Help to Diagnos Diabetes

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA. -- According to Memorial Hospital, one in three people in Yakima have diabetes and some may not even know. Saturday the hospital tried to help.

In honor of National Diabetes month, Memorial Hospital offered free screenings to people in Yakima to check for diabetes and pre-diabetes conditions. The hospital says following simple lifestyle choices can prevent those with pre-diabetes from turning into a full diabetes diagnosis.

"We cannot cure diabetes, but we can stop pre-diabetes," Lily Gonzalez of Memorial Hospital said. "How? Early screenings (help)."

Memorial Hospital also offered free early detection Osteoporosis screenings with a new piece of equipment that has recently arrived from Seattle.
