North Idaho Councilwoman Charged With Drunk Driving

Posted: Updated:
SANDPOINT, Idaho - PONDERAY, Idaho (AP) - A Sandpoint city councilwoman has been charged with misdemeanor drunken driving.

38-year-old Jamie Brunner was arrested Thursday night on U.S. Highway 95 after police say another motorist reported her driving erratically.

Brunner made her initial court appearance Friday in Bonner County Magistrate Court and posted $1,000 bail.

Court records say Brunner had a blood-alcohol content of 0.20, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Brunner in a written statement to the newspaper says she hopes for a "fair trial unbiased by preconceived notions an article or subsequent comments to the article might generate."

Judge Debra Heise ordered Brunner not consume alcohol and to undergo testing to verify she's in compliance with the court order.

A trial date hasn't been set.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It took a jury only a little more than two hours on Wednesday to find Daniel Arteaga guilty for the murder of Kim Schmidt. The prosecution said Arteaga was very jealous that his relationship was ending with Schmidt and she was moving on. They say that's part of the reason why he decided to kill her at the beginning of 2012. The defense disagreed saying that Arteaga was not there when she died and they think she may have even died of suicideMore >>
