YAKIMA, WA -- Yakima homeless shelters are now seeking volunteers for the winter. The Homeless Network is working with Sunrise Outreach to host the homeless from November to March.
Over 500 volunteers will be needed for a variety of tasks during that time. Organizers say the work is simple but it has a big impact.
"To have someone willing to just have a conversation, sit there and treat them as a human, it's uplifting," Ken Trainor of Sunrise Outreach said. "It really helps them."
The three churches housing the homeless for the Winter are the Unitarian Universalist, the Englewood Christian and the First Baptist.
