KENNEWICK, WA - Tuesday night is KNDU Coats for Kids night at the Tri-City Americans game. You can enjoy the game and help a good cause by bringing new and gently used coats to the Toyota Center.

The Salvation Army tells NBC Right Now the need for donations is greater this year than others. This year they have already given away 1,700 coats which is 200 more than this time last year.

Some people are even leaving the Salvation Army empty handed because they're running short on some kids' sizes.

"We still have needy families that are without a coat, these children. With this event hopefully our community can hear us out and the need that we do need at the Salvation Army," said Anet Medina with the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army needs all sizes for both boys and girls and they are depending on donation events to meet the strong need. And another bonus is when people donate a coat they'll get a discount on their game ticket at the box office.
