Tri-Cities Filipino Community Collecting Donations for Typhoon Victims

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - The Filipino community in the Tri-Cities is working to help the victims of typhoon Haiyan which devastated parts of the Philippines earlier this month.

The Filipino-American Association of the Tri-Cities is teaming up with St. Joseph Catholic Church for a fundraiser event on Sunday. They'll be accepting mostly monetary donations that will go to some of the remote areas impacted by the typhoon.

"We're seeing all kinds of stuff that's been happening over there right now, just like I said the remote area is the one that really, really needs the help right now," said Lito Ines with the Filipino-American Association of Tri-Cities.

The event starts at 3 p.m. this Sunday at St. Josephs Catholic Church on Garfield Street in Kennewick. There will be live music, traditional Filipino dancing, and organizers are hoping to have food available as well.
