YAKIMA, WA -- The Yakima Humane Society is looking for your help to win a national pet shelter contest.

The Humane Society is part of the 2013 winter Shelter Challenge* organized by the Petfinder Foundation.

This is a national contest; the first place winner gets $10,000.00 to use for their shelter.

The Yakima Humane Society said they really need community support to win.

"Voting every single day, that's the only way we can win, and we know there are a bunch of pet advocates out there ready to help dogs and cats like these guys here," said Outreach Coordinator, Erica Seaver-Engel

Right now the Yakima Humane Society is number two in the state and number 37 nationwide.

They said if they win, they will use the money for their spay and neuter programs and for buying animal supplies.  Click here to vote for them online once a day.
