YAKIMA, WA -- People in Yakima are joining forces with the rest of the nation Wednesday to thank military members, veterans and their families.

The Yakima Valley Red Cross Chapter is hosting a holiday card making party until 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The cards will be sent to our troops, spreading a little cheer over the holiday season.

"Anything we can do to make them feel really remembered and let them know that we're thinking of them, and how incredible they're doing," said Christina Eglin, a Red Cross Volunteer.

"Holiday Mail For Heroes" is a nation-wide campaign through the Red Cross. Last year more than 1.8 million cards were distributed.
