Walla Walla, WA - Walla Walla High School Senior Cadet First Sergeant Sarah Jameson officially signed her Letter of Intent to accept a scholarship at the University of Nevada, Reno to shoot on their 2014 Rifle Team. Sarah officially signed in the Fletcher Room at WA-HI surrounded by family, friends and members of the Walla Walla High School JROTC Rifle Team.

"We are very excited for her" said Rifle Coach Mark Mebes. "This young lady has spent untold hours on rifle ranges across the country to rise to the level she is at today."

Although the 2013/14 high school rifle season has just started, Jameson has been grabbing headlines in the sport since her sophomore season. Last July, she competed on the Walla Walla High School Precision Rifle Team that brought home the Junior Olympic Three Position Rifle National Championship from Anniston, Alabama. Her score set an individual national record.

"The last few months has been very busy" said Jameson. "The University of Kentucky Rifle Team flew me out to their college for an official visit last month and I have been talking with The University of West Virginia as well."

In the end, Jameson made her choice based on the other new team members signing at UNR.

"I know a couple of the athletes that are going to be freshmen on the team with me next season," Jameson said. "Although we have been shooting against each other for years in high school we have bonded outside the rifle range and truly like each other. We all know how important it is to bond as a team, and I am looking forward to the experience."
