Spike of Residential Burglaries in Kennewick are Related

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - NBC Right Now brought you coverage about a rash of burglaries in Kennewick last weekend that Kennewick Police say now are related.

According to police, 14 burglaries dating back to mid-October are linked.  Most of the burglaries took place east of SR 395 during the late afternoon and early evening. They say the burglar knocked on the door and when someone answered, the burglar asked for a person who doesn't live there.  This should be a red flag to call 911.

"When you see something that's out of place, looks unusual, something in the back of your mind says that doesn't look right, call. These guys are hoping they're being so bold, they're hoping that nobody calls," said Sgt. Ken Lattin, Kennewick Police Department.

Overall, burglaries are down by 12% compared to the same time period in 2012, but police are concerned by the recent spike.

Police are asking residents to call them every time they see a person or vehicle that is out of place in their neighborhood.
