RICHLAND, WA - Crews are cleaning up at the intersection of Wright Ave. and Thompson St. after a car hit a fire hydrant Friday morning.

Richland police say a 55-year-old man was driving when he had a seizure and hit the hydrant. The car flipped and ended up in the front yard of a home alone Wright Ave.

Officers say the hydrant's pipe broke a few feet underground, shooting earth and rocks into the air. The water flooded streets for about three blocks. The streets are closed a block in each direction from Thompson and Wright.

Paramedics took the driver to Kadlec Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. The extent of his injuries are currently unknown.
