YAKIMA, WA. -- Recreational marijuana was legalized in the State of Washington this past election. Since then cities around the state have been debating whether or not to allow legal smoke shops.
Another local city in the Yakima Valley is holding a public hearing on the topic this week. The City of Selah will hear public comments this Tuesday regarding their six month moratorium on pot sales. We talked to one Selah resident who thinks the ban should be lifted.
"I think it's a good idea honestly," Chris Gardner said. "There's nothing really wrong with it. I personally think it's a lot better than alcohol."
The City of Yakima also has a 6-month moratorium on marijuana, but voted last week to write up an ordinance that would ban growing, possessing or selling pot within city limits.
