Bulldogs Jump Two Spots In Both USA Today, AP Polls

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (November 25, 2013 – http://www.gozags.com) – Gonzaga University's men's basketball team jumped two spots in both the USA Today and Associated Press Top 25 rankings this week.

The Bulldogs moved into 10th in the USA Today rankings and 11th in the AP poll Monday just hours prior to taking on the University of Dayton in the nightcap of the opening day of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. PST and can also be heard on the IMG Gonzaga Radio Network including flagship station 1510 KGA CBS Sports Radio in Spokane.

Gonzaga moved into the Top 10 in both polls in week five a year ago, dropped out in week six, returned in week nine and remained in the Top 10 the remainder of the season. The Bulldogs finished No. 1 in the final AP Top 25 and was top-ranked in the USA Today poll entering the NCAA Tournament before ending the season 12th in the final poll following the NCAA Tournament. AP does not do a final poll following the tourney.

A Top 20 showdown could take place Tuesday in the EA Sports Maui Invitational. Baylor University, ranked 18th in AP and 17th in the USA Today rankings, meets host Chaminade University Monday. Gonzaga and Baylor are in the same half of the bracket, meaning a win by both or a loss by both would pit them in a Tuesday game.
