KENNEWICK, WA - Thanks to your tips Crime Stoppers has helped police catch several criminals recently. Believe it or not it is partially due to the time of year.

A Crime Stoppers spokesperson told us that they typically see an uptick in tips and reports around the holiday season. While most people do not even mention the rewards offered, more callers do seem to claim the cash as we get closer to the holidays.

"During the holiday season we start seeing an increase in the number of tips and then also the number of people that are asking for the rewards increases as well," said Mike Blatman of Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers. "So the only correlation you can make is that during the holiday season people need more money for the holidays."

Blatman says people with credible tips only claim rewards ten percent of the time. Over the next two months, that number will go up substantially.
