Canadian Aquilini Investment Group wins bids for Red Mountain Land

BENTON CITY, WA - 670 Acres of Kennewick's Irrigation District's land on Red Mountain have a new owner after a pricey auction over the weekend.

About 35 bidders were ready to buy land in the auction on Saturday put on by Musser Brothers.

But only one bidder walked away with all 31 parcels.

The Aquilini Investment Group from Vancouver, British Columbia ended up paying just over $8.75 million for 670 acres of land on Red Mountain.

Other bidders came from Napa Valley in California, Seattle and locally.

The Aquilini's own real estate in Canada and throughout the United States, including dairy, cranberry and blueberry farms throughout Washington.

In a statement NBC Right Now received from the head of the Aqulini group, Luigi Aguilini he said, "We see this acquisition as a great opportunity to enter the viticulture business in one of the best growing regions in Washington state. We are in the process of determining the best grape varieties to grow in the region with the intention of developing and planting the land as soon as possible."

The aquilinis are also owners of the Vancouver Canucks NHL team.
