Piety Flats Winery in Wapato Closing Soon

Posted: Updated:

WAPATO, WA.--A popular winery located right off Interstate 82 is closing.

The owners of Piety Flats Winery said health issues have forced the couple to retire.

They started out as a fruit stand 12 years ago and quickly started producing and selling their own wine. The owners said it's a bitter sweet moment for them. They'll miss all the friendly faces they've met over the years.

"Here they want to stay, have fun, talk about their kids, our kids and it's a very unique experience for us," said Owner Jim Russi.

"It has been a good run and a fun one," said Owner Kris Russi. "It was fun."

The owners are looking for a buyer but said they've also thought about leasing the business. They'll officially shut their doors once they run out of stock, which could happen around mid-December.
