YAKIMA, WA - Yakima City Leaders put their heads together Tuesday morning to review plans for the Cascade Mill Redevelopment Project.

The mill site is one of Yakima's economic development priorities, and the city said a number of critical steps will be carried out next year.

On Tuesday, the city council discussed how the redevelopment will affect local street projects and neighborhoods. Some new traffic patterns include a roundabout at Fair Avenue and Cascade Mill Parkway.

"While it's complicated, it will also be a fairly smooth process," said Jeff Cutter, the City Attorney. "We're hoping."

The city also has to deal with multiple environmental issues, including wood debris and municipal waste found all over a 28-acre site. Cleaning up the site could cost more than $16 million.
