RICHLAND, WA - After more than a decade of set backs for the Hanford Reach Interpretive Center, you can now see some real progress for the project as all of the walls for the new building are now up.

The project manager says work on the exterior of the building is about 80% complete and on track to be totally finished by the end of the year.

Next up, crews will finish sheeting all the walls and getting the roof on. The project manager says, at this pace, work on the interiors will start in January.

"It's been interesting to watch it transform from a set of drawings to the actual construction of the facility. You don't really get a good perspective of the magnitude of the size of the building until it actually goes up in the air," said John Koberg, project manager.

Workers have also poured a slab for the amphitheater.

The building will include large wall windows with a view of the river and many exhibits that are already in the works.

Workers have completed all this work since construction broke ground in March and the grand opening is planned for July 1st of next year.
