Pendleton Round Up Looks to Hire First Paid Manager

Posted: Updated:

PENDLETON, OR - The Pendleton Round-Up is looking to hire its first paid executive in more than 100 years.

Oregon's largest rodeo is now 103 years old. The nonprofit is managed by 17 directors with more than 1,400 community volunteers.

The Round-Up association says it now plans to hire a full-time, year-round general manager who would also work with the Happy Canyon, the stage show put on in conjunction with the rodeo.

Round-Up President Tim Hawkins says both organizations have grown more complex, running the professional rodeo events and the Wild West show, as well as hosting two Professional Bull Riding competitions and an outdoor concert.

The new general manager will report to an executive committee with members from both boards.
