MAUPIN, OR - Police say an elderly man who went missing is now with his family once again.

Oregon State Police and Kennewick Police teamed up Tuesday night to find the missing 80-year-old man with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

Police say by sending a ping to the man's cell phone, they determined he was south of the Columbia River in Sherman County.

An Oregon State Trooper found the man shortly after, sitting in his silver 2006 Jeep Liberty, parked along Highway 197, about eight miles south of Maupin in southern Wasco County. Officers say his car had run out of gas.

Kennewick Police called his family, and troopers drove him to The Dalles where his family picked him up.

Officers haven't released the man's name.
