BY SWX's Josh Ouellette: The University of Washington earned its first 8-win season in the Steve Sarkisian era and won the 106th Apple Cup in the process. Junior running back and Doak Walker Award finalist, Bishop Sankey, ran for 200 yards and a touchdown as the Huskies (8-4, 5-4 Pac-12) defeated Washington State 27-17 in Seattle on Friday.

Washington's senior quarterback Keith Price was 15-of-20 passing for 181 yards, a TD and an interception after missing the Huskies last game with a shoulder injury.

Junior quarterback Connor Halliday completed 32 of his 59 pass attempts for 282 yards for the Cougars (6-6, 4-5). Halliday threw two touchdowns, his second coming early on in the fourth quarter to bring WSU within 3 points, then threw interceptions on back-to back possessions later in the quarter to help seal the Cougs' fate.

Halliday passed Ryan Leaf's Washington State single-season passing yards record of 3,968 yards, the junior quarterback now has 4,187 yards and 28 touchdowns passing in 2013. The Cougars will hope he can add to that season total as they await the news their bowl game options.

Sankey (Gonzaga Prep '10) passed Corey Dillon's UW single-season rushing record of 1,695 yards in the game. The junior running back now has 1,775 yards rushing and a likely bowl game to still to add to that number. Sankey also passed Napoleon Kaufman's career TD record of 34 when he scored his 35th career trip to paydirt today to make him one of the most prolific rushers in Husky history.
