Shoppers at Columbia Center Mall in Kennewick didn't have to deal with crazy Black Friday crowds Friday morning.
KENNEWICK, WA - Shoppers at Columbia Center Mall in Kennewick didn't have to deal with crazy Black Friday crowds Friday morning.
That's mostly due to the fact that the mall opened early on Thanksgiving night. The general manager says stores were busiest between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
Shoppers we spoke with say they were happy and surprised to get what they needed, without fighting the crowds.
"My expectations were that it was going to be really busy--that everyone would be waiting in line to checkout for the really good deal--but then I got here and it's empty," said Candace Cavallero, a first time Black Friday shopper.
"I feel like there's a lot less people in the stores that I've been to this year and the places I like to go here at the mall," added Stephanie Partida who was shopping with her friends.
"You know, I was pleasantly surprised wandering around and not having to run into anybody and to get what I needed," Carlye Durham who tries to avoid Black Friday crowds.
This was the first year the Columbia Center Mall opened early on Thanksgiving night. It will stay open until 10:00 p.m.
