KENNEWICK, WA - Holiday cards, packages, and gifts bought online will soon be showing up on door-steps all over the country.

For thieves, Christmas can come early if those things are left outside too long. Every year they're reported stolen. That's why police say it's best to make sure they're being delivered to a secure location.

"If you know you're going to be at work and you know it's going to be delivered during the day during work hours, you can always have your package delivered at work as well. So it's not sitting on your front doorstep if you don't have any neighbors available. They do have mailboxes that are secure that you secure then the mail carrier can drop mail in them," said Officer Becca Jones, Kennewick Police Department.

You can also arrange to pick up packages yourself.  If you do fall victim to a holiday grinch, Sgt. Jones says you should always report it.
