Spokane's own, Julianna Pena, became the first-ever female The Ultimate Fighter Champion with her first round TKO victory over Jessica Rakoczy at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday.
The "Venezuelan Vixen" took Rakoczy to the ground with a sweep of the leg and worked her way into position to begin the pounding. Pena forced referee Mario Yamasaki to call of the fight as she reigned blows to Rakoczy's face repeatedly.
Pena earned a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a custom Harley-Davidson Motorcycle.
"I love you, Mom. I love you, Dad. I love you, guys," were the first words Pena said after her win.
Pena will enter into the UFC Women's Bantamweight class where she will join the mentors from TUF's season 18, Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. Pena was the first pick of coach Tate in the beginning of the TUF season. Rousey is the reigning Women's Bantamweight Title Holder.
